Exercise has been for ages a very important tool to ensure good physical and mental health of a person. It is instrumental for the overall well being of a person. Jogging is a very popular form of exercise. Jogging actually means running for a long duration at a very brisk pace. Jogging has also been found very useful in reducing cholesterol. Cholesterol or lipids are the polymers of fatty acids. Fatty acids by nature act as the reserved energy in the body. Due to lesser physical strain the primary source of energy that is protein is not burnt properly so the energy material in storage that is the cholesterol is left completely unoxidised or in the undegraded form. This later on results in deposition of this unused cholesterol in the arteries and different parts of the body. The major harm caused by this excess fat in the body is that it blocks the blood vessels and hampers the flow of the blood. This leads to fatal diseases like arthrosclerosis and myocardial infarction.

Jogging as a way to reduce cholesterol

It is being advised by the medical practitioner that in order to reduce cholesterol a person should concentrate more on the duration of the exercise than the intensity of the exercise. To burn maximum amount of the cholesterol a person should always take into consideration the amount of heat produced by the body while performing the exercise. The more the time of the exercise more will be the amount of heat produced and thus will result in burning of more cholesterol. It has been found through research that people doing 20 miles of jogging over the period of a week tend to loose the maximum amount of cholesterol. Thus proper time table should be worked out for jogging. The total distance of 20 miles should be fragmented and evenly distributed among the six days of the week and one day of the week should be reserved for rest which will ensure proper relaxation of the muscles. The jogging regime should be followed very religiously so as to get a good result.

It should be always made sure that the person is jogging on a proper jogging track or else it may lead to various other health related problems. Proper footwear should be used in order to prevent any sort of backbone problem.
