It is played widely in Asian countries such as China, Japan and Thailand, and now going global. Badminton is either played between two opposing players, which is termed as single or between two opposing pairs of players, which is called as Doubles. The players take position on opposite halves of a rectangular court that is divided by a net. Badminton uses a feathered projectile called as a Shuttlecock. These shuttlecock is strongly affected by the winds, hence this game is played indoor.
Court dimensions:
The court is rectangular and divided by net in two halves. Courts are marked for both singles and doubles. Double court is wider than the single one. For double width are 6.1 meters and 5.18 for singles. The total length of the court for both single and double are 13.4 meters. Service courts are marked by centerline. Short service line is marked 1.98m from the net. In double, service court is marked 0.78 meters from the back boundary. The net is 1.55 meters (5 feet 1 inch) high at edge and 5 feet high in the center. There is no fixed height limit for ceiling. If the service hits the ceiling, then serve is repeated again.

A point is added to the players whenever player wins the rally. Game is played in best of three. Player who reaches 21 points earlier wins the match. But if both the players or pairs reaches 20 points, then play continues until either of one player or player pair achieves a two point lead continuously will win the match. But it goes upto 30 points only. At 30, score might be like 29-30, and then 30-point fellow wins the game, as game did not extended or crosses the 30 points. At the start of the match coin toss is done between the players or pairs. Winner chooses whether to serve or receive or side. Sometime, shuttle is hit in air; whichever side it points to shall to serve first. In subsequent game, winners of previous game start the serve. After each match players changes its side. But in the case of third game players changes its side after 11 points. In singles, server shall stand in his right service court when his score is even and left service court when it is odd. And players should stand diagonally opposite service court. In doubles, the players shall remember their service positions from previous rally; receivers should remain in same court, when receiving pairs wins a point. If the new score is even, then player in the right service court shall serve; if it is odd then player in the left service court should serve. Service should not to short or should not reach the third court. A server or receiver both should not touch any line while giving or receiving the service. And soon game continues upto the winning points.
