Chronic Fatigue Syndrome : Cure For Chronic Fatigue

Chronic fatigue syndrome is a term given to prolong fatigue. Due to persistent fatigue, other disorders may originate among the patients. Although the cause of this .....
Chronic fatigue syndrome is also referred to as chronic fatigue immune deficiency syndrome. It is a disabling illness featured by persistent fatigue accompanied by rheumatologic, cognitive, and infectious-appearing symptoms. Despite of any intense medical research, there is no known cause for chronic fatigue syndrome, but it seems to be a heterogeneous disorder which affects multiple systems, including hormonal, neurologic, and immunologic. As there are no specific diagnostic tests or physical findings for Chronic fatigue syndrome, diagnosis needs knowledge of possible symptoms and a method of exclusion. Chronic fatigue syndrome is likely to be a spectrum of illnesses sharing a common pathogenesis with varying degrees of fatigue and associated symptoms.

Chronic fatigue syndrome affects both the genders, and all the racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic populations, and can begin as early as five years of age. Though previous reports showed a predominance of chronic fatigue syndrome in well-educated, white females between 20 and 50 years of age, these findings might be skewed by study populations that were selected from patients who sought medical care for the disorder. Moreover, the diagnostic ambiguity surrounding chronic fatigue syndrome invariably leads to imprecise and inconsistent epidemiologic statistics.

Serious fatigue is a familiar complaint amongst the patients. Often, the fatigue is transient or can be accredited to a definable organic illness. Some patients present with importunate and disabling fatigue, but show no abnormalities on physical examination or screening laboratory tests. In these cases, the diagnoses of chronic fatigue syndrome have to be considered. Chronic fatigue syndrome is featured by debilitating fatigue with associated myalgias, tender lymph nodes, arthralgias, chills, feverish feelings, and postexertional malaise. Diagnosis of Chronic fatigue syndrome is principally by exclusion with no definitive laboratory test or physical findings. Medical research continues to examine the many probable etiologic agents for chronic fatigue syndrome i.e. infectious, immunologic, neurologic, and psychiatric, but the answer remains elusive. It is well-known that chronic fatigue syndrome is a heterogeneous disorder which is possibly involving an interaction of biologic systems. Similarities with fibromyalgia exist and concomitant illnesses comprise irritable bowel syndrome, depression, and headaches. Therefore, treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome might be variable and should be tailored to each patient. Therapy should comprise exercise, diet, good sleep hygiene, antidepressants, and other medications, depending on the patient's presentation.
