Migraine Headaches: Usually seen more in women than in men, they may be seen in kids but usually occur in teenagers. They are typically throbbing or piercing, one-sided headaches, accompanied by vomiting and nausea. They may be mild or severe. Migraine sufferers become very sensitive to light or sound. Though, a one-sided headache, pain may be experienced on both the sides of the head, or on different sides of the head every time. The symptoms (occurring few minutes may before the headache) may be visual disturbances like the flashing of lights, distortion in size and shape of objects, blind or dark spots in the eye or other symptoms like tingling sensation in the face or arms, numbness, weakness on one side of the body.
Cluster Headaches: Occurring on one side of the head, mostly in the temple or behind the eye, they can be sudden, sharp and stabbing. Running, red eyes and nostrils are the usual symptoms. The pain may occur at night lasting from a few minutes to a few hours. Sometimes, it may last for 4-12 weeks and then may not occur for months or years. This type is more commonly found in men than women, especially in people addicted to drinking and smoking.
