External Hemorrhoids are those types which occur mainly on the anal verge, the last end of the anal canal. It is mainly the outcome of the swelling of the external veins of the affected region. Their symptom includes excessive pain in the affected area along with itching, irritation and swelling. Mostly external Hemorrhoids are the outcome of prolonged periods of seating position during a long car trip, constipation, and diarrhea or even after pregnancy. Sometimes blood clots are developed inside the external Hemorrhoids making them very tender and swelled up. Such a condition may give rise to the formation of thrombosed external hemorrhoids. Formation of large blood clots produces excessive pain with walking, sitting or while passing away of stools. Unlike the internal counterparts, the external types does not bleed that much and can be seen in the areas outside of the anus and many a times their presence can be felt.

External Hemorrhoids are mostly associated with inadequate intake of fiber which leads to constipation, chronic straining and prolonged sitting in the toilet and reading. Pregnancy is another clear factor which may induce the formation of an external Hemorrhoid. Sometimes it is also observed that pelvic tumors may lead to enlargement of external Hemorrhoids as they cause pressure on the veins draining upward from the anal canal. Insufficient hydration or intake of too much diuretic fluid such as coffee or cola may also actively contribute for external Hemorrhoids. The symptoms of external Hemorrhoids are mostly straight forward. In case of external thrombosed Hemorrhoids sometimes the conditions are much more painful as the blood accumulates to form a swelling. This may worsen with bowel movements or even with sitting. Such a condition needs immediate medical attention or consultation with a medical practitioner.

For external thrombosed Hemorrhoids one treatment option is to allow the clots to be slowly absorbed by the body. Hot baths, ointments and creams may prove helpful in gaining temporary relief. However surgical and medical treatments are more proven and successful and are carried on when the conditions turns out to be chronic and severe. Some of the common and popular forms of surgeries and therapies include the Sclero or the injection therapy, the cryosurgery, the Hemorrhoidectomy and the photo infrared coagulation. There are also a number of natural ways for the cure & prevention of external Hemorrhoids successfully. These may include healthy eating habits with high fiber and fluid content in the diet, regular yoga sessions and intake of natural herbs.
