Hemorrhoid can be prevented by following a strict fiber rich diet. It is advisable to drink 6 to 8 glasses of water each day. One must avoid eating a lot of fatty and processed food. This is because such food stuff causes constipation and thus in turn leads to hemorrhoid. Fatty food stuffs also leads to obesity. But excess of fiber food may not help too. So an ideal intake of fiber per day is around 25 – 30 gms. Fiber rich food helps smooth passage of stools. Whole grains, whole wheat, beans, bran, oatmeal, lots of dry fruits and vegetables are all rich in fiber. Such diet also helps softens stools and in turn prevents constipation. One should avoid eating junk food. Intake of lots of fluids such as buttermilk, water, lemonade etc. is advisable to prevent hemorrhoid. This is because they act as lubricating agents in the body. Moreover, they maintain the body temperature too.
