Bird Flu Virus : Bird Flu Cure
Bird Flu UpdateAvian influenza is an infection caused due to avian (bird) influenza (flu) viruses. These influenza viruses occur naturally among all birds. Wild birds worldwide ..... Although scientific studies does not support the fact that avian influenza do not infect any humans, since 1997 more than 200 cases of human infection by the viruses have reported by the authorities of the world health organization from different parts of the world. Some of the common symptoms of the bird flu in human resemble those of typical influenza symptoms. These may include an initial mild eye infection along with sore throats, fever chills, coughs etc. However the conditions may worsen into a severe life threatening condition such as pneumonia, acute respiratory distress, viral pneumonia and others. However in case of birds the scenario is a little contrast. Generally wild birds do not show nay symptoms. But the virus can cause immediate deaths in domesticated birds such as turkeys and chickens. Some of the most prominent symptoms in birds include diarrhea, breathing difficulties a swollen head or even death. An infected bird may transmit the viruses through its feathers, mucous, saliva and feces.
Although there is no vaccine discovered, general anti virus medications used for the treatment of human influenza are also effective for bird flu. If a person develops the symptoms after possible exposure to the virus, these may be used. It may also be very effective for prevention of illness in those persons, who were in close contact to the virus. It is not mandatory for those who live in close proximity or who pays regular visits to the affected countries to have anti viral medications. Upon medical advice two very prominent drugs that are used in the treatment of human bird flu are Relenza and Tami flu. Scientists are engaged in the development of a vaccine against bird flu as the current influenza vaccines will not protect humans against bird flu. So it is advisable for those who may be exposed to bird flu should consider being vaccinated against human influenza viruses to reduce the risk of the viruses 'mixing' to form a new flu strain.
There are several vaccines which protects the humans from the infections of bird flu, even though the one which may be referred to as the ultimate cure is yet to be developed. The fact that the virus has the capacity to mutate and change from the original ones has made it more complicated and straining to create such a vaccine.
