The idea of a parent is not limited to biological bonds. In fact, successful parenting emerges from a plethora of arenas. Parents are discovered in any individual who exhibits sincere interest in the well-being of a child. This is why many cultures profess a version of the time-honored adage, “it takes a village to raise a child. By this statement, people recognize that entire communities will affect the development of children.
Parenting necessitates a careful examination of all aspects of child development. These burdens may be eased by utilizing support networks found in academic institutions, faith-based counsel, familial support and the guidance of peers and other parents. When a parent chooses to follow the guidance of these varied associations, they will enable their child to develop a broader world-view. Support systems will also allow parents to balance their lives and become happier people.
Parents must maintain communication between themselves and their children. Children should feel nurtured, loved and respected. Parents must balance the many ways in which they will interact with their children. For example, although discipline is a necessary tool of parenting, it should not occur more frequently than activities of affirmation.
Activities of affirmation reinforce the intimate relationship between parent and child. These activities deepen the parent-child bond. For a child that is old enough to process the world around them, activities of affirmation can include conversations in which that child is allowed to voice their thoughts. However, activities of affirmation do not always necessitate conversation. Even quiet time spent reading or engaging in physical activity will accomplish the task of spending time together in an intentionally meaningful manner.
Parents must also instill an appropriate value system in their children. This parenting task will mold the way in which your child copes with the world. This beneficial task is not a way to tell your child how to think, but a way to teach your child how to think critically and with compassion and empathy for other human beings.
Parenting RightsWhen your child is born you automatically assume that you have all the rights and responsibilities that being a parent means. This ..... Overall, good parenting is a multifaceted role. It requires a great deal of time and effort that will result in the production of a well-adjusted adult.
