Teething rash is a side effect of teething and it is related to the stem from this excessive drool. Sensitive skin and extreme saliva don't sit well together, especially when the skin is rubbing against a drool-soaked bed sheet which is a normal indication of a rash. In some cases it is seen that there is a red, raised, irritating rash around baby's lips and chin. One can place a drool-absorbing cotton diaper under baby's chin or a towel under the sheet while baby sleeps. In such cases one should gently wipe excess drool off the skin with lukewarm water and pat and should not rub it off till it dries. One also has an option to lubricate with a mild emollient such as Soothe and Heal by Lansinoh.
Teething rash and diarrhea:
Not only does the face react to excess saliva, but the case it same with bottom. One can also expect loose stools and a mild diaper rash during peak teething time. This temporary nuisance self-clears as each teething burst subsides and in such cases it is advised to apply a barrier ointment to baby's bottom. A teething powder or gel available from pharmacies can help to numb the area so that it has a soothing effect on the baby. In case of fever one should use paracetamol once every four hours and one should not use aspirin because this has been linked to Reye's syndrome.

Teething rings that have been chilled in the fridge are useful but one should avoid those filled with fluid because these can sometimes rupture. One can also wrap some cold fruit or vegetables in muslin and give them to your baby to chew. Baby teeth should be regularly clean with a soft cloth so that there is a pause to the occurrence of rashes. Teeth’s brushing is not necessary until your child is 12 months as the gums are tender and too delicate to brush up. One can always start with a small, soft-headed brush and teach your child to clean their teeth in the morning and at night.
