The struggles of being a parent of teens is demanding. With today's teens experimenting with drugs and sex at a young age, we have to keep a close eye on our kids. Everyday a battle to keep them safe and out of trouble.
Surely there is something we can do to make them see that it's for their own good. We can talk to them daily and make sure we are a part of their lives every waking moment of ours. But the truth is they will try things regardless of what we do. It is our job to make sure we give them the direction and values. Is it easy? No way. Nothing in life is easy. We have to give them enough freedom without them knowing it.
Be their eyes and ears. Let them know its okay to talk to mom or dad about things. No matter the subject. And when they do use that option, because they will in their own ways. Don't yell and scream. Talk it out. Don't punish when they come to you for help or to talk about their actions. Warn them. Guide them. That is after all what we are here for.
