The deficiency of Vitamin D may result in a bone disorder called rickets in children or Osteomalacia in adults. This deficiency can also occur in older because their skin produces less Vitamin D when exposed to sun light. There are some several rare hereditary forms of rickets because the body cannot process Vitamin D normally in the body.

They can also be slow to sit and craws because of weak bones. The bone growth may also be abnormal. The bones in the spine and legs can be unusually curved. In adults the bones throughout the body can be weakened. The affected areas are also painful to touch. Calcium supplement are given by mouth as a treatment of Vitamin D deficiency.
